This height-adjustable walking stick has an ergonomically designed, moulded black plastic handle.

How to measure the correct walking stick height

  • You'll need a friend, a tape measure and your usual walking shoes.

  • Stand upright with your shoes on and arms relaxed at your side.

  • Ask someone to measure the distance from the floor up to the crease of your wrist (the bump where your hand meets your arm).

  • That measurement (in cm or inches) is the ideal walking stick height for you, ie. if the distance from the floor to wrist crease is 87 cm then your walking stick should also be around 87 cm tall from tip to handle.

  • This ensures your elbow bends slightly (about 15 - 20 degrees) when holding the stick - comfortable and supportive without strain.

Note

  • If you are using a walking stick for balance (not heavy support), wrist height is usually best.

  • If you are using it for weight bearing support, a physiotherapist or occupational therapist might suggest a slightly different height or handle style so check in with them before purchase.
